2016 June

1:  Arranged the makeshift Altar and served as acolytes and choir at a Requiem Mass and burial in Kawas for a patient assisted by ACIM-Asia.  Before heading back to Gensan, showed to Fr. Pfeiffer the work in progress on the chapel of St. John the Baptist.  He gave instructions about the sacristy plan.  Then we drove back to Gensan and attended the meeting for catechists by Fr. Pfeiffer.  Among the topics discussed were the output of the children's camp conducted on the first week of May; the goals for the catechism apostolate; the plan for the feast of St. John the Baptist - the patron of the mission village in Kawas; and the importance of encouraging catechism students and contacts to make the First Saturday Devotion.  During the meeting, an Apostle of Mary member was recommended to coordinate the General Santos City to Davao section of the nationwide Pilgrimage.

3:  Feast of the Most Sacred Heart :  Invited people to attend Holy Mass and Night Adoration.  Prepared the Altar and served at Mass and Midnight Benediction.

4:  First Saturday :  Served at Mass and Benediction by Fr. Hora.  Assisted at another Requiem Mass and burial in Kawas.

5:  Prepared the chapel and the sacristy.  Conducted Sunday School for the little children.  Assisted at Mass as servers and choir.  Then proceeded to Kawas to set up the tent and temporary Altar in Kawas village, taught village boys how to serve the Mass, arranged chairs, invited people, taught hymns, assisted at Holy Mass as servers and choir.

Then after Holy Mass, cleaned up and collected all the things used at the Mass. Assisted at the dinner of the Priest then locked up the Chapel for the night.  About to sleep, the power went off, so two AoM immediately stood guard to secure the chapel and construction site while two AoM tried to establish contact with the electric cooperative to determine the duration of the blackout.  They could not give an answer so the watch schedule was indefinite but fortunately it didn't take the whole night!

6:  Assisted at Holy Mass, served breakfast for the Priest then drove him to Davao, to deliver  important documents, and to study the road and the infrastructures along the way in preparation for the Mindanao to Luzon Pilgrimage in honor of Our Lady of Fatima.

11:  Laundering of linens and cassocks.

12:  Prepared the chapel and assisted at Mass as servers and choir.

13:  Assisted at the Fatima Crusade in Kawas.  Fatima Procession in General Santos City by the catechism pupils.  Film-showing on Our Lady of Fatima.

15:  We donated blood for a poor surgical patient being assisted by ACIM-Asia.  We hope that we can help her spiritually too.

18:  Prepared the chapel and sacristy and assisted at Holy Mass.  Served breakfast and assisted the Priest during the sick calls.  Prepared and ate lunch with Fr. Pfeiffer.  Received instructions about the plan for the Altar in Kawas, then attended meeting by Father where he gave assignments for the fiesta program in Kawas.  The AoM were to take charge of the games, prizes, songs and play.  After the meeting, Fr. Pfeiffer gave a spiritual conference on how to acquire Eternal Wisdom.  After a barbecue supper with Father, we prayed the Compline, then drove Father to the bus terminal for his trip to Marbel.

19:  Prepared the chapel and sacristy and assisted at Holy Mass as servers and choir.  Before Mass, gathered the children and briefly reminded them about the proper behavior inside the Church and after the Mass, conducted a short game for the little children.  Attended meeting by Fr. Pfeiffer for the villagers of Kawas and the catechists assigned there to discuss the approaching fiesta.  After the meeting, attended the 2-hour conference by Fr. Pfeiffer for the catechists where he explained about the basic Fatima catechism that must be taught in catechism centers. Then we attended the Spiritual Conference about Eternal Wisdom.   In the end we knelt to receive blessing from Fr. Pfeiffer and drove him to the terminal.

20-24:  Painting the chapel of St. John in Kawas.  Music research for the fiesta program. Bought rubber horses for the children's horse race, purchased prizes, prepared songs, decorated the chapel for the wedding.

24:  Baptisms and Holy Mass.  Assisted as Mass servers and choir.
At night, resumed painting the chapel.

25:  Wedding and Holy Mass, followed by Procession then enrolment to the Militia Immaculatae.  Then fiesta lunch followed by catechism quiz bowl, singing contest, dance presentation, and games.  Father visited homes and taught catechism to families and individuals, imposed scapulars and gave miraculous medals.

We started late because, horror of all horrors, the choir was late.
Only the choir.  Everyone else was prompt.
¡Qué vergüenza!

Consolation dinner at Cotton Bowl Grill with Fr Pfeiffer to celebrate the birthday of Bro. Matthias who helped so much in the construction of the Altar.  Bro. Matthias was also an AoM before he entered the religious life.  He explained the life of a religious Brother to the boys.

26:  Prepared Chapel and sacristy for the Mass by Fr Cornelius Eisenring.  Assisted as servers and choir.  Assisted in editing Rosary and Confession guides to be used in the upcoming medical mission in Samar.
