No to RH BILL, No to SEDUCTION!

The Apostles of Mary - Catholic Youth League of the Philippines participated in the anti-RH Bill rally at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) grounds last February 13, 2011.  Together with them were the Legion of Mary, Knights of Our Lady, teachers from Our Lady of Victories School, and 2 priests from the Society of Saint Pius X - Rev. Fr. Thomas Onoda and Rev. Fr. Fidel Ferrer.

AoM members of Mt. Carmel clan conducted interviews of young people who attended the rally and asked what these young people were protesting against the bill.  During their interviews, they met with a few youth who came to the rally with a general idea of saying no to immorality but had no specific idea about the provisions of the RH Bill that were immoral.  In line with this, the AoM, led by Captain Renel Pena and assisted by former secretary Marifi de Guzman decided to use the interviews as a venue to share necessary information on what is wrong with the RH Bill.

During the program, pro-life congressmen and senators explained why they were not in favor of the bill, and why they continue to fight the legislation.
At the intermission number,  some youth presented a salsa dance to the popular tune "La Bamba".  For them, the dance was simply a joyful way of lifting up spirits.

Sadly, all the shoulder and hip rotations and jiggles did not actually alarm them.  They did not realize what they were doing to their souls.  They seemed not to have been informed that dancing in hot rhythm builds up the spirit of abandon while stirring up the passion.  They were unaware that gyrating in hot music contributes to the weakening of the will against temptations.  Once the passion is lighted, it is difficult to quench.  While we fight lust which is the root cause of contraception and the fuel of the reproductive health bill, we need to make people understand that the fight begins with chastity.
Chastity is about exercising control over passion.
Gyrating one's hips and jiggling one's chest to hot beats do not help promote chastity.

Before we say no to contraception, we should first say no to seduction.

Fortitude is a virtue. Bon courage!
