2012 July

06 - While we were arranging flowers for the Altar, a spider came to inspect....
Who would have expected it?
Well, we've got to run along now. Bye.

01  Feast of the Most Precious Blood.  Holy Mass by Rev. Fr. Timothy Pfeiffer.
After the Holy Mass, we cleaned the chapel and assisted the catechism pupils in their needs.  Then when everyone had left, we organized a picnic and meeting at the city gymnasium grounds.  It seemed like a girl's picnic because only one male member was able to attend, the rest being absent.  Three female friends of Gemma joined us.  We asked them about their impression of the traditional Mass as it was their first time to attend one and then we gave them some short explanations on the differences between the traditional Mass and the novus ordo Mass.

After the picnic-meeting, we returned to the headquarters and continued our group discussion on "The
Friends of the Cross" by St. Louis de Montfort.
Then we had some snacks and we taught fun songs to the new girls. We ended the day by reading the Charter of the Apostle and kneeling before the Blessed Sacrament to renew our promise to be fervent apostles.  We then sang the Angelus and bade each other goodbye after many well-wishes for each others' school exams and presentations.

2012 June

June 1:  First Friday of the month.  We went to the chapel, as usual, to pray the Stations of the Cross, and to
prepare the sacristy and the credence table for next day's Holy Mass.

June 2:  First Saturday of the month.  Fr. Francois Chazal came to offer Holy Mass. In the afternoon we printed copies of the letter from the District Superior and the Pentecost sermon of the Superior General to be distributed to all the faithful on the following day.

June 3:  Feast of the Most Holy Trinity.  Distribution of the printouts to the faithful.  Holy Mass by Fr Chazal.
Fervent prayers offered for the intention of the SSPX. Village catechism in FVR Village. Review of the league's goal of personal sanctification. Group study of "The Friends of the Cross" by St. Louis de Montfort.

June 4:  We printed guides for the novena to the Sacred Heart and distributed among the faithful.  And started work on the flower carpet for the feast of the Corpus Christi.  We divided the group into three:  The design group, the flower collection group, and the paper-cardboard and paste layout group.  We also had a food committee, but we did not need to assign anybody in particular - everybody was expected to be an active member of that committee: coffee and biscuit crew to make sure there was enough hot water, coffee and biscuit to keep us awake all through the nights of  flower harvesting and sorting, and of course, meal preparation crew to cook and serve meals through the days of pasting the blossoms and leaves on the paper pattern.

June 5:  We started our group novena in honor of the Sacred Heart.  We also started the design of the            flower carpet and the harvesting of flowers.

June 7:  The most awaited feast of the Corpus Christi found us excited and happy.  We finished the carpet at
about 7AM and then we solemnly knelt down before the Blessed Sacrament for the holy hour of adoration.  At night we had another holy hour, this time with some Legion of Mary and Knights of Our Lady and other faithful of St. James Chapel.  And then, of course, we had a fiesta dinner.
In the picture are the hardy people who worked without ceasing.  Not in the picture are the more smiling people like the photographer, the cook, the dishwasher, and the sleepers.  (Hey, we took turns to sleep.  They took the pictures when it was our turn to sleep!  Anyway, those are the zombies on the pictures.  They were sleepless and were on auto-pilot silent mode.)
Three zombies left on the scene.  The others must have been lured to the coffee nook - to take a nap...haha.
Sorry, we could not zoom in... we were quite zoomed out.
But we're not complaining.  We were proud of our misspelled carpet.
Ahaha... See the shadow?  That shadow is of the project director who was so zoomed out that she could not remember the right spelling...  No problem, we enjoyed and celebrated just the same.

June 8:  We came to the chapel to do our regular Stations of the Cross.  To our dismay, we saw the flowers
in the carpet drying up due to the extreme heat in Gensan.  Oh, oh... we had to think quick:  what to do to save the flowers for the weekend Mass?  First step:  cover the carpet to trap moisture and to prevent quick dehydration of the flowers and leaves.  Next step:  Find food coloring to try if it can help in putting back color to the wilting flowers.  Third step:  Look for extra paint to add stronger color in case the food coloring does not help.  Fourth step:  Get brushes, get down to our knees, and retouch-repaint the carpet.  :Luckily the food coloring worked well.  Putting make up on flowers was an unexpected fun.

June 9:  Holy Mass:  solemnity of the Corpus Christi.  Procession.  Potluck dinner!!!!  Happy fiesta to everyone again!!!

June 11-14:  Chapel altar beautification project.  Our altar needed badly a face-lift.  So we applied moulding and did some repainting.  We took down the ill-matching picture frames, supposedly to make 2 uniform frames for a better-looking altar.  Then we started embroidering a carpet... hopefully, we can finish the carpet before the year ends. We wanted to fnish our chapel beautification before the feast of the Sacred Heart, but we were so slow.  Classes have started already, and we have less time to spend at the chapel...

June 15:  Group holy hour at the chapel in honor of the Sacred Heart of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Fiesta dinner shared together with Mathilde Rigolot, the French volunteer who came to volunteer with ACIM-Asia in Gensan. We did not make the Stations of the Cross this day.

June 16:  Enthronement of the Sacred Heart at Hibanada home by Rev. Fr. Timothy Pfeiffer.  We went there to witness the solemn event.  We enjoyed the fiesta food served by the family.  Angel, thank you for inviting us!

June 16-17:  Visit of Rev. Fr. Daniel Couture.  Surprise, surprise!  Wonderful surprise! We took Fr Couture to the site the future chapel.

June 17:  Village catechism in Kawas, Sarangani Province, together with Rev. Fr. Timothy Pfeiffer and with  the Legion of Mary.  There were many children and many adults too.  After short catechism quizzes, we distributed rosaries and scapulars and played games with the children.

June 20:  We started our group novena for the intentions of the SSPX Ordinations and Chapter Meeting in Switzerland.

June 22:  Regular Stations of the Cross.

June 24:  Nativity of St. John the Baptist.  Holy Mass offered by Rev. Fr. Alexander Hora.
Village catechism in FVR.

June 25, 26-27:  Tawi-tawi mission.  A lone representative from AoM went to join the ACIM-Asia mission in Bongao, Tawi-tawi.  He brought with him packs of catechism tracts and rosaries and rosary guides.  He met with the local parish priest and the officers of the local municipal unit and spoke about traditional Catholic faith.

June 29:  Feast of Sts. Peter and Paul!  We were awakened by the drums and the music coming from a motorcade which was on its way to the parish church in Lagao.  We did not have as grand a celebration as the St. Peter and Paul parish church but we continued our solemn prayers to the Holy Ghost and to Sts. Peter and Paul for the intentions of the SSPX.  We did our usual Stations of the Cross. We arranged the flowers for the altar and the credence table for the Holy Mass.

June 30:  Holy Mass by Fr. Tim Pfeiffer.

We left Gensan at 1:40PM and arrived in Davao at 5:10 pm.

They passed by Davao, proceeded to Cagayan de Oro, then crossed to Camiguin Island, and then took another ferry bound for Jagna in Bohol, then took a bus which brought them to Tagbilaran.

On arrival the group helped in the logistics preparation for the pilgrimage.

14-16:  Formation Sessions in Bohol and preparation for the pilgrimage.

17-19 : Pilgrimage proper graced by Rev. Fr. Daniel Couture, the District Superior, and other priests: Fr.
Thomas Onoda Keiji, Fr. Valan Rajakumar, Fr. Francois Chazal, Fr. Coenraad Daniels, Fr. Aurelito Cacho, Fr. Timothy Pfeiffer, Fr. Joseph Pfeiffer, Fr. Alexander Hora, and Fr. Albert Ghela.  There were more than a thousand pilgrims this year, with delegates from other countries.

We were privileged to be on the pilgrimage by the generous sponsorship of Sagittarius Mines, Inc. which donated P40,000.00 towards our fare.  Of course we also shelled out our own money from our personal income to pay for our registration and part of our fare and food.  And we also received other cash donations from various faithful in Gensan.  We were also able to sell some catechism books before the pilgrimage, and the sale proceeds were donated to our fund by Fr. Tim Pfeiffer. We were very fortunate for the generous support we received. Thanks be to God.  May God bless all our benefactors!

21-22:  Children and youth camp.  Special features: judo training by Master Ono.

Flores de Mayo children at play:  guess what they're playing:

No need for a court, or a ball, or a pair of shoes or a basket.
Just play like we do, and you'll have lots of fun too!
Our game is called Basketball Fun!  Did you guess right?

31:  Culmination of the Flores de Mayo program.

One truck, one jeepney, and two multicabs brought 109 children and catechists to St. James Chapel.   Participants came from Fatima, Apopong, Bula, Sunrise Village, Kawas, Ladol, Maribulan, Alabel Poblacion, and Lagao.  The program began with a procession in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary during the feast of her Queenship.

A cool refreshment awaited the children and the catechists on their return from the hot sun.
Quiz bowl and Marian song contest were the special features of the program.
Various awards and prizes were given to recognize the children who did well during the daily catechism
classes.  Games and prizes made the day very fun and memorable for the children.
The activity ended with a prayer and group picture.

Cheers to the working committee!
The sumptuous lunch was prepared by the food committee led by Aldy Mondia and Kitz Wilson.  The cool juice and sandwich which refreshed the procession participants were prepared by Chrisma Jane Bravo and Wilmar Intes.  The flower arches were made by Sharmaine Paglinawan, Shirlyn Paglinawan, Princess Januto, Gemma Beth Bravo, Godwin Montuya, Rosmar Ordovas, Patrick Intes and Angelica Hibanada. The program MC's were Gemma Beth Bravo and Princess Januto.  The certificates and ribbons were printed and crafted by ACIM-Asia office staff.  The transportation was paid from the donation of an anonymous donor from Michigan, USA.  The special prizes came from the donations of Ms. MK, a very generous donor from Malaysia. Thank you very, very  much! Ave Maria! Deo gratias.

Noble Virgin may our tribute win thy love and gain us grace.  Ora pro nobis.

Special thanks to the kind-hearted benefactors and sponsors
who supported our apostolate. God bless you forever!
